Past Continious Form

It uses to be (was or were), the infinitive of the verb and the ending –ing.


Affirmative sentence

I/he/she/it was reading a book.
We/you/they were reading a book.

In affirmative sentences we do not use short forms in the Past Continious.


Negative sentences

I/he/she/it was not reading a book.
We/you/they were not reading a book.

We use short forms in the Past continious in negative sentences.

I/he/she/it wasn\'t playing football.
We/you/they weren\'t reading abook.


Questions


In the Past Continious, put was or were before the subject

Was I/he/she/it reading a book?
